TYPO3 & digital accessibility
Accessible websites under the BFSG and WCAG 2.2
The German Accessibility Strengthening Act (BFSG) has applied since June 2025. We audit existing websites, show exactly what needs to change, and implement it.
What an audit involves
We test your website against the WCAG 2.2 Level AA success criteria: with automated tests and, above all, manually with a keyboard and screen reader. You receive a prioritised list of the barriers found, each with the affected page, the cause and a concrete fix.
We fix the code instead of adding an overlay
Overlay plugins that are layered over a website by a script do not remove the underlying barriers and can even interfere with assistive technology. Instead, we fix templates, markup and forms directly, so the website stays usable for good.
TYPO3 focus
On TYPO3 websites, we start where barriers usually arise: in Fluid templates, content elements, extensions and forms. Your editorial team also gets guidance on keeping new content accessible, for example with alt text and headings.
How getting started works
- Initial call We talk about your website, your goals and the timeframe. The call is free of charge.
- Agreeing the sample Together we choose representative pages, such as the homepage, forms and frequently used content pages.
- Audit and report We audit these pages against WCAG 2.2 AA. You receive a prioritised list with the cause and a proposed fix for each barrier.
- Fixes and retest If you wish, we fix the barriers directly in the code and then test again.
What this deliberately does not include
- No legal advice. Whether the BFSG applies to your offering is, if in doubt, a question for a lawyer.
- No overlay plugin that merely covers barriers up.
- No seal of approval and no certificate.
Frequently asked questions
Does the BFSG apply to my website?
It mainly covers certain consumer-facing offerings, such as online shops. Micro-enterprises that provide services are exempt. In the initial call we look at what could be relevant for you.
Do we need a relaunch for this?
Usually not. We improve the existing website. A rebuild is only needed if the technical foundation leaves no other option.
Do you also audit websites that are not built with TYPO3?
Yes. The WCAG audit does not depend on the system. TYPO3 is our focus when it comes to implementing the fixes.
What does an audit cost?
That depends on the scope. After the initial call you receive a quote before any costs arise. We start with a focused first phase, and if the result does not meet your needs, we do not charge you for that phase.

Tell us briefly which website it is about. You will get an honest assessment of what needs doing and how much work it will be.
